Flora book

It’s not too late to own a copy of ‘Threatened, poorly known and other flora of Wongan-Ballidu‘!

Launched in December 2006 at Wongan Hills Tourist Centre, this colourful, information-packed book is a definite must for anyone planning to spend time in the magical Wongan Ballidu area.

The book contains beautiful photos and detailed information on 50 rare and priority species and 20 more common species.

The book was developed with funding and support from the Avon Catchment Council and the ‘Back from the Edge – recovering species and communities’ project. It also included the generous donation of 400 books to the Wongan-Ballidu bushcare group, to be sold through the Wongan Hills tourist centre.

A partnership between the Wongan-Ballidu Bushcare Group, the Wongan-Ballidu Shire and the Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC) made production of this great book happen in less than six months. This is the result of the hard yards put in by the book’s six tenacious authors, Sonya Thomas, Shari Dougall, Lyn Phillips, Ian Smith (Wongan Ballidu Bush carers), Wendy Johnston (DEC) and Claire Hamersley (DEC contractor).
